The phrase "alternative appears to be" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing different options or choices that seem to be available or viable in a given context.
Example: "After reviewing the options, the alternative appears to be the most cost-effective solution for our project."
Alternatives: "the option seems to be" or "the choice appears to be".
