The T-Maze task consisted of habituation trials, followed consecutively by alternating shaping trials, alternation training without a delay, and then delayed alternation testing.
Alternation training without a delay consisted of an information run and a choice run.
The alternation training, therefore, consisted of three sequential stages during which the use of specific cue-types was permitted or excluded.
Delayed alternation training and testing were performed in a T-maze (laquered plywood, w: 90 cm × l: 65 cm × h: 8 cm).
Nevertheless, by the end of T-maze alternation training, the performance levels of the Fornix rats appeared to almost match those of the control group (Fig. 9).
For alternation training on the T-maze, there were no significant differences in the number of training sessions needed to reach criterion between defeated rats and controls (F 1,21) = 1.344, p = 0.259; Figure 5).

In the online alternation, each training signal is processed one at a time to improve the dictionary.
There is a current debate on whether the effects of case alternation (e.g., tRaIn vs. train) have an early or late locus in the word-processing stream.
For example, in the T-maze alternation task, across training, both goal arms are likely to have become familiar, but however, on a choice trial, the sample arm will be relatively more familiar than the nonsampled arm that has been less recently visited.
Generally, the co-training style algorithm is a classic approach for semi-supervised learning, which trains in alternation to maximize the mutual agreement on different views.
Delayed alternation testing was identical to training, with the exception that a 30, 60, or 90 s delay was interposed in between the information run and the choice run.
