The general strategy is to transform the ALT of competitive failure into ALTs of several single failures under the assumption that each failure mode and mechanism are not related to each other [28, 29], but few cases meet this assumption.
For example, patients with a normal ALT at study entry could be allowed to continue in the study until their ALT reached >10× ULN, while patients entering with an ALT of 8× ULN would have to discontinue with an elevation of only 25%% over their baseline value.
