No clearcut boundary separates diencephalon from telencephalon (Inoue et al., 2000; Puelles et al., 2000; Trujillo et al., 2005), allowing for migration between them (Mitrofanis, 1994; Henderson et al., 1999; Letinic & Rakic, 2001; Morante-Oria et al., 2003).
As our experimental conditions did not allow for migration between replicate populations, and because N. whitei is asexual [ 42], the parasite population would indeed lose variation that might not be compensated by mutations.
Such a legal system of migration allows for bilateral migration flows.
