Policymakers in Ankara and Washington often complain about misperceptions on both sides of the Atlantic, yet often domestic politics and inter-capital rather than intra-alliance factors are to blame.
After four decades of compliance research, the literature shows that treatment adherence in psychiatric practice is a multifactorial issue that includes patient-centered factors, therapy-related factors, healthcare system factors, clinician-patient alliance and communication factors, social and economic factors, and disease factors [ 10- 13].
However, to have a successful learning process through strategic alliances, the factors that influence this process should be recognized.

It can be assumed that the therapeutic alliance represents a protective factor against rebound effect; numerous studies have found that the therapeutic alliance is relevant to the outcome of psychotherapy [ 10] and the prevention of relapse [ 11].
