"agree to the statement" is correct and usable in written English.
You might use it in a letter or email when trying to get the recipient to accept the terms of a statement or agreement you have proposed. For example: "If you agree to the statement, please sign the enclosed document and return it to me as soon as possible."
We examined the percentage of participants who responded 'completely agree' to the statement (see Figure 1).
