Add into the mix terrible weather, routes taken through deserts and along live train lines (a mistake never repeated), near run-ins with Toyota Land Cruisers and perilous wildlife including aggressive bulls, snakes and deadly Jacarés (yes, we had to Google them, too).
And do you know what the greatest fear for the average would-be self-promoter is? Being too "salesy -- you know, the kind of approach that instantly conjures up all sorts of negative feelings: aggressive salespeople, shoddy snake oil salesmen and inauthentic online marketers.
Despite its reputation for being very aggressive, like most snakes, it usually attempts to flee from humans unless threatened or cornered.
"They're absolutely not aggressive, compared to some snakes," says Ron Lilley, who runs a snake retrieval service in Bali.
