MiRNA expression profiling of primary canine MCTs identified unique miRNA signatures associated with aggressive MCTs as compared to benign MCTs.
This finding was confirmed by real-time PCR in which a 3.2-fold increase in miR-9 expression was identified in biologically aggressive MCTs as compared to benign MCTs.
To understand the molecular characteristics of TNBC, and determine the reason for its highly aggressive phenotype as compared to TPBC, we used the 4T1 breast adenocarcinoma mouse cell line as a model system, because tumor growth and metastatic spread of 4T1 cells very closely mimic human breast cancer and has the advantage of being able to be transplanted into immune competent recipients.
