Personal and family history of eczema, hospital admission for wheeze at young age, atopic sensitization at young age and parental smoking were not related to MTW at the age of 5 10 years (p > 0.4).
Interestingly, our data showed an age-dependent sensitization pattern in patients with sIgE against peanut extract.
In our cohort of 2033 children between 4 and 8 years of age, de-sensitization to an inhalant allergen varied, between 3% and 9% for birch, mugwort, cat dog and horse.

Exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke is today considered a risk factor for the development of lower respiratory illness among young children [ 4], and secondhand tobacco smoke has been shown to be associated with asthma and wheezing episodes until 6 years of age [ 5], allergic sensitization and sensitization to food allergens [ 6, 7], and the development of atopic eczema [ 8].
