Typically, "The Ages of Mankind" exhibitions have gone on display in Roman Catholic cathedrals that close for religious services to accommodate the crowds, said Father Meléndez.
Since 1988 "The Ages of Mankind," a foundation created by the 11 Roman Catholic Dioceses in Castile-León, has put together traveling exhibitions, drawing on artworks from religious institutions around the region.
The exhibition, "The Ages of Mankind: Time to Hope," through Nov. 24, is part of "Treasures of Castilla y León, a Cultural Season in New York," calling attention to a region of Spain rich in the country's historic and artistic patrimony.
