The Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging (BLSA) is a prospective study of community-dwelling volunteers who were healthy at the time of enrollment; the study has been conducted by the National Institute on Aging without interruption since 1958 [21].
The rise seemed to be the result of changes in the infant diet: an increase in the amount of gluten consumed, the postponement of gluten introduction from 4 to 6 months of age, and the interruption of breastfeeding when gluten was introduced [ 57].
Children with sick parents have also been shown to be at a lower grade for their age due to interruptions caused by looking after their ailing parent (s) (Ainsworth et al., 2005; Kasirye & Hisali, 2010).
Inclusion criteria for HIV-infected patients on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) interruption were age > 18 years, stable HAART, CD4+ > 600/μL, and HIV-RNA load < 50 copies/ml for at least 6 months before discontinuing therapy.
The few studies that have examined the gap in schooling found, as we did, that children who lost either or both of their parents to AIDS were less likely to be in the correct grade for their age due to the interruption in studies caused by parental illness preceding death (Ainsworth et al., 2005; Bicego, Rutstein, & Johnson, 2003).
In bivariate analyses, all factors assessed in this study (i.e., sex, age, evacuation from home, interruption of dental treatment, lost or fractured dentures, self-rated systemic health, serious psychological distress (SPD), economic status, number of teeth, having decayed teeth, CPI code, and tooth mobility) were significantly associated with OHRQoL.
Therefore, lifespan increase due to interruption of the aging program in these animals is not so strong as in naked mole-rats, since they die as a result of development of those types of cancer which are resistant to food restriction, SkQ1, or other geroprotectors that have been tested.
Age was not associated with treatment interruption, even taking into account subgroups of patients: i.e. older age (>50 years) was not associated with EFV interruption.
