The phrase "aforementioned paragraph" is correct and is used in written English.
It can be used to refer to a paragraph that was previously mentioned in the same document. For example, "The aforementioned paragraph outlined the relevant laws and regulations of the company".
Inducing slow waves through TRN stimulation has very little effect on the magnitude or phase of cross-cortical dynamics (in the aforementioned paragraph, Figure 1 figure supplement 8).

In the last paragraph of the aforementioned subsection comes the conclusion of three of the models, "Taken together, [these] models suggest that Purkinje cell disruption is accompanied by deficits in learning".
The Loh et al. study also undertook a microarray study with their morphants, and reported changes in Wnt signalling pathway genes, whereas the current manuscript states that Wnt signalling is unaffected in their amotl2a morphants, but do not show the data (second paragraph of the aforementioned subsection).
However an alternative explanation is that instead of losing many of these so called 'core' genes, they have simply undergone significant sequence divergence in the apicomplexan lineage, which might not be so surprising given the considerable changes in host tropism, life cycle, morphology etc. (in the first paragraph of the aforementioned subsection).
