The phrase "affecting example" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when referring to an example that has a strong emotional impact or influence on the audience.
Example: "The documentary provided an affecting example of the struggles faced by refugees, leaving many viewers in tears."
Alternatives: "moving example" or "powerful example".
The play itself is a deeply affecting example of an artist reclaiming unhappy elements from his own life and transforming them into something redemptive.
