The phrase "affected sample" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used in contexts such as scientific research, statistics, or any situation where a specific sample has been influenced or altered by certain conditions or variables.
Example: "In our study, we analyzed the affected sample to determine the impact of the treatment on the participants' health."
Alternatives: "impacted sample" or "influenced sample".

To improve assay quality we focused initially on parameters that affected sample population variability.
