This combines the use of an advanced registration technique implemented in the Advanced Normalization Tools ANTSsoftwareare (Klein et al., 2009; Avants et al., 2011) with an iteratively generated unbiased group-template to allow valid voxel-wise comparisons (Schwarz et al., 2014), similar to the voxel-based morphometry technique (VBM) (Ashburner and Friston, 2000).
More recent studies use an advanced combined 2D-3D2D-3Dmodel-imagemodel-imageechnique for foot kinematics in healthy subjects [ 26- 29], patients with hallux valgus [ 30], hallux rigidus [ 22], flat-arched feet [ 31] and for subjects with ankle arthroplasty [ 32].
As registration is a critical component in developing an accurate image-guided system, we present three registration techniques: 1) enhanced paired-point registration (time-stamp match registration and dynamic registration); 2) orientation-based registration; and 3) needle shape-based registration.
A variety of image registration techniques are proposed for retinal image registration (RIR) [7].
Other registration options such as rigid image registration techniques should be further explored.
Special classes such as underwater photography and underwater biology are also offered with advanced registration.
Such information cannot be recovered using other types of image registration techniques, such as, for example, the affine registration.
Several of the different registration algorithms were developed with a library of robust math kernel functions, and the accuracy of all registration techniques was thoroughly investigated.
An OS and platform independent program for image registration developed in this study will be useful for the clinical application of image registration techniques.
A more advanced and automated registration procedure is available in Abdelmoula et al. Since the registration needs to account for cutting artifacts, tissue deformations due to extraction and freezing of the brain, and other spatial perturbations, nonrigid registration techniques play a central role here.
