Total ICU admission volume (r = 0.26 (-0.05; 0.53)) and MV volume (r = 0.19 (-0.14 to 0.48)) were not correlated with practice variation reflected by global IQV.
We found no correlation between the questions with lowest variability (mean IQV per question < 0.4) and the total ICU admission volume (r = 0.17 -0.15 to 0.46)) or the MV volume (r = 0.04 (-0.35 to 0.28)).
By contrast, the questions with the highest variability (mean IQV per question > 0.6) were associated with the total ICU admission volume (r = 0.32 (0.01 to 0.58)) or the MV volume (r = 0.38 (0.07 to 0.63)) (Table 3).
