Facing another threat from Amtrak to shut down service, the Senate set up a showdown late Thursday with the House and the Bush administration over passenger rail funding.
The official line is that it covers administration and deters passengers from selling on tickets at a profit.
In addition, the ATA says the administration wants to raise passenger "head taxes," which could cost passengers more than $2 billion per year.
