The phrase "adjusting for bed" is not standard in written English and may cause confusion.
It could be used in contexts related to preparing for sleep or making adjustments to a sleeping environment, but clarity is essential.
Example: "After a long day, I find myself adjusting for bed by dimming the lights and setting a comfortable temperature."
Alternatives: "preparing for sleep" or "getting ready for bed".
Compared with areas of the same district with similar transmission potential, children who lived in an IRS area (regardless of whether the house that they lived in was sprayed) had lower prevalence of malaria parasitemia and anemia, even after adjusting for bed net use, socioeconomic status, and house construction.
Adjusting for bed net use, house construction, and socioeconomic status, we found that receiving direct IRS and indirect IRS were significantly associated with a 33%95%5% confidence interval [CI] = 1 54%) and 46%9595% CI = 20 64%) reduction in parasitemia and a 21%9595% CI = 4 34%) and 30%9595% CI = 12 45%) reduction in anemia prevalence, respectively.
The adjusted models include coefficients adjusted for bed size, total margin, and ownership.
At hospital level, we adjusted for bed numbers, as a proxy for hospital size, and for the rate of transfers out to other hospitals; all hospitals were known to be metropolitan teaching hospitals.

Children less than five years of age who resided in households with either direct (adjusted prevalence ratio [aPR] = 0.67, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.46 0.99, P = 0.04) or indirect (aPR = 0.54, 95% CI = 0.36 0.80, P = 0.002) IRS were less likely to have malaria parasitemia, after adjusting for ITN and untreated bed net use, socioeconomic status, and house construction (Table 3).
However, unlike in our previous study, 26 the correlation of time in bed with suicide-related behaviours was not U-shaped, and although suicide attempts were not associated with time in bed after adjusting for awakening time and bedtime, subjects with extreme time in bed showed decreased suicidal thoughts and suicidal plans.
Significant positive associations were now observed in all three vascular beds adjusting for age, sex, BMI, and estimated glomerular filtration rate.
In addition, if nursing-sensitive outcomes are to be used for benchmarking between hospitals, adjusting for hospital characteristics such as bed number, teaching status, number of intensive care beds and case mix needs to be considered.
