"We continue to look for companies that have global ambitions," Mr. Rimer said, adding that the fund-raising was completed in less than two months at the beginning of the year.
Mr. McConnell, though, like Mr. Rangel, met with business leaders to solicit contributions to his center, an aide said, adding that the fund-raising effort ended before he became Senate minority leader in 2007.
