It can be used to describe a natural inclination or propensity to adjust or change in response to different conditions or environments.
Example: "The species exhibited an adaptive tendency that allowed it to thrive in various climates."
Alternatives: "adaptive behavior" or "adjustive inclination".
In other words, our natural, adaptive tendency to give and share is moderated by group membership.
