As the largest actively cycling pool of terrestrial C, the response of soil organic matter (SOM) to climate change may greatly affect global C cycling and climate change feedbacks.
To test this hypothesis we asked whether a specific mRNA target of SF2/ASF exhibited increased association with polyribosomes, the actively translating pool of ribosomes, when SF2/ASF is overexpressed.
By coupling CLIP with sub-cellular fractionation we were able to identify mRNAs associated with SF2/ASF in the nucleus, cytoplasm and in the actively translating pool of ribosomes (Fig. 2 and Table S1).
Strikingly, ISRIB addition to stressed cells with pre-formed SGs induced their rapid disassembly, liberating mRNAs into the actively translating pool.
