In the UK, bumblebees and honey bees were found to be active flower visitors in oilseed fields (Hayter and Cresswell, 2006) as well as Andrena spp., Osmia spp. and Lasioglossum spp. solitary bee species (Woodcock et al., 2013).
The regulation of the mevalonate pathway by HMGR was reflected in the result that around 20- and 8-fold more expression was seen in highly biosynthetically active flower buds and young leaves, respectively, than in old leaves.

These results indicate that there are reduced expressions of the key genes involved in phenolic compound skeleton biosynthesis, leading to changes in the FLJ active compounds during flowering, which provide additional information for the medicinal value of the flower buds.
