The 50.4 kDa monomer of Pab87 consists of two structural domains, an N-terminal PRP domain associated to a C-terminal lipocalin domain that plays a crucial role in the octamerization and in the active site compartmentalization (Figure 2A).
These mechanisms include zymogen activation and compartmentalization of the active proteinase processes, and these concepts have been discussed in detail elsewhere (Hadler-Olsen et al., 2011; Murphy and Nagase, 2011; Ra and Parks, 2007; Sela-Passwell et al., 2010).

Next, we evaluated whether the observed differential compartmentalization of active histone modifications at the nuclear periphery is consistent with their genome-wide distributions relative to sLADs.
Taken together, we have made highly consistent observations in the differential compartmentalization of active and repressive histone modifications relative to the nuclear periphery at the microscopic level and relative to sLADs at the molecular level.
The analysis of the 3D chromatin organization at this stage revealed a bi-modal compartmentalization, whereby active genes labeled by H3K4me3 are clustered together and physically separated from the inactive genes, labeled by H3K27me3 that are also found in a defined spatial structure (Noordermeer et al., 2011).
