Three ROTEM® tests were performed: extrinsically activated assay with tissue factor (EXTEM), intrinsically activated test using kaolin (INTEM), and extrinsically activated test with tissue factor and the platelet inhibitor cytochalasin D (FIBTEM).
For the quantitative RDTs, we measured activated tests at various concentrations ranging from 0 to 200 ng/mL for free and total PSA.
A related study [ 65] of ROTEM® at emergency department (ED) admission demonstrated significantly lower values of platelet component of clot elasticity (MCE EXTEM, ROTEM® extrinsically activated test with TF and MCE FIBTEM, ROTEM® fibrin-based extrinsically activated test with TF and the platelet inhibitor cytochalasin D) in trauma nonsurvivors vs. survivors (P = 0.0012).
ROTEM® parameters significantly associated with MT include increased CFT [ 22, 31], decreased MCF [ 22, 31], prolonged EXTEM and INTEM CT (intrinsically activated test using ellagic acid, clotting time) [ 31] and FIBTEM A10 (ROC AUC, 0.83; 95% CI, 0.78 to 0.87) [ 31].
However, during the time course of critical illness we noted decreases in CT and CFT and an increase in MCF in the tissue factor activated tests (EXTEM) compared with admission values (Table 3).
When 16 of the 37 players on the roster did not want to be tested initially, they found out that a refusal would count as a positive and would increase the chances that major leaguers would surpass the 5 percent threshold to activate stricter testing in 2004.
We activated and imaged 14 PSA tests, activating 1 at each concentration for free and total PSA and imaging the activated test up to 10 times each, under the same illumination conditions with the test held vertically in front of the Glass (see Figure 1 b).
We performed extrinsically activated thromboelastometric test (EXTEM), a test that uses rabbit brain thromboplastin as an activator, and fibrin-based thromboelastometric test (FibTEM), a test that assesses the fibrin-based clot using both extrinsic activation and addition of cytochalasin D to inhibit platelets' contribution to the formation of the clot.

Since the launching of Aqua on May 4, scientists had slowly been activating and testing the half-dozen instruments that it carries, NASA officials said.
