Considering the multistep nature of cancer and the acquired capabilities implied by each of these hallmarks, it is therefore a very small step to envision how a series of complementary exposures acting in concert might prove to be far more carcinogenic than predictions related to any single exposure might suggest (see Figure 1).
The human brain is exquisitely sensitive to the impacts of environmental toxicant exposures during development [ 1] and can serve as the "canary in the coal mine" for such exposures – acting as an early warning sign for harmful health effects.

We specifically assessed how documents presented exposure data, and what information, if any, was provided about interpreting and acting on the exposure data.
