Figure6b shows an AFM scan across the intersection of the two different orientations, revealing that a surprisingly narrow line of defects exists along the boundary region between the two interfaces.
The elongated receptive field implies a clear modulation across different orientations, while the tuning curve for an isotropic receptive field is flat.
