The phrase "acknowledges autonomy" is correct and usable in written English.
You can use it when discussing the recognition or respect for an individual's or group's ability to make their own choices and decisions.
Example: "The new policy acknowledges autonomy, allowing employees to take ownership of their projects and work independently."
Alternatives: "recognizes independence" or "affirms self-governance".
It thus acknowledges participants' autonomy as decision-makers and their capacity to make judgements based on their own ethical stance within the research setting.
