Part of the problem may be that most women (and men) don't feel as if they have enough leverage to ask for accommodations, says Anne Ladky, the executive director of Women Employed, an advocacy group for low-income women in Chicago.
"I spend a lot of the off-season negotiating things like hotel accommodations," says Newman, who during the season spends 40 to 50 hours a week on team business.
"A very insignificant portion of our beds are identified as deluxe accommodations," said Gail Donovan, the chief operating officer of Continuum Partners, which includes Beth Israel and St . Lukes-Roosevelt Hospital.
New York City officials had set a May 31 deadline for ending hotel accommodations, saying that most of the residents already had plans to move into new homes.
"We felt we had a health enthusiast staying here that would appreciate the spa concept within the accommodations," said a spokeswoman, Alexandra Wensley.
"There has never been a better time to get great value offers — whether you are looking to stay in a luxury castle, five-star hotel, cottage or B&B accommodations," said Ruth Moran, a publicity manager for Tourism Ireland.
The previous government was considering measures that would have weakened the country's anticorruption agency, but Mr. Tobgay, who has shunned his predecessor's limousine and luxury accommodations, said that he planned to strengthen it.
"It has very comfortable accommodations," said Mike McCarron, an airport spokesman, who said the flame — ensconced in a handsome brass lantern and accompanied by several backup flames — was "treated similar to a head of state".
"The Head Start providers have lobbied it very well, and we are making these accommodations," said Michael N. Castle, the Delaware Republican who sponsored the legislation overhauling what he acknowledged was "a very popular program".
"I think when people here grow up and make a real income, they want to spend it on decent accommodations," said Ms. Wetherby, 63, who works in public education.
"There are plenty of discount hotel booking options online but rarely do they include any true luxury accommodations," said Jason Klein, 31, a Jetsetter member who said he saved an estimated $2,000 on a weekend getaway in February to the Banyan Tree Mayakoba in Mexico.
