Our own qualitative findings suggest that many carers who accommodate patients' symptoms do not believe that such accommodation improves the patient's outcome and also report experiencing distress when accommodating to symptoms [ 39] which corroborates empirical evidence by Calvocoressi and colleagues in OCD [ 19].
