Together, these data suggest that the LMW-GS genes with intact ORF are generally and highly expressed in developing grains and their products accumulate in mature wheat seeds, although exceptions do occur in certain Ae. tauschii accessions (see below).
A microsatellite repeat found within our AFO homolog was analyzed for variation among a large number of individual accessions (see below).
These DNAs were used to screen for microsatellite markers polymorphic between parental accessions (details below) initially using primers from the French National Institute for Agricultural Research INRAA) Microsatellite Database (http://www.inra.fr/internet/Produits/vast/msat.php).

Based on a 1 9 scoring system on leaves (from 1 absence of symptoms up to 9 corresponding to lesion area >85%%), we considered all accessions with a score below or equal to two (corresponding to incompatible reactions) as resistant, and the remainder as susceptible.
