A survey of the ERF gene allele composition at the SUB1 locus, or SUB1 haplotype, of 21 rice accessions confirmed that all encode SUB1B and SUB1C, but only a sub-set of indica and aus accessions encode SUB1A (Xu et al. 2006; Fig.6).
A group of Guinea-margaritiferum accessions was clearly separated from the other races, but clustering closer to the Durra- rather than other Guinea-race accessions, confirming the genetic distinctness of this Guinea-sub-race [ 32, 34, 36].
