Sixty F9 RILs, generated from a cross between cultivated lettuce (Lactuca sativa cv. Salinas) and wild lettuce (L. serriola accession UC96US23), along with representatives of the parental lines, were used as the mapping population in this study.
Second, because host regulatory mechanisms suppress transposition, other potentially active TEs (elements shown previously to transpose when epigenetic regulation is impaired) may have been activated in these accessions along with Pong.
Additional accessions along with ecological information for New Guinea are needed to evaluate their genetic characteristics in detail.
Further, haplotype analysis of HKT2 3 gene showed that its haplotype H1 included four tolerant wild rice accessions along with the salt tolerant check varieties FL478 and CSR27.
At K = 8, approximately half of the previously identified W4 accessions along with some admixed W1/W4 accessions, clustered as a separate subpopulation in SE Asia, geographically well differentiated from the remaining W4 samples found in E. India and Bangladesh (Fig. 1d).
