Broad evidence also suggests that the lack of, or poor access to, transport options is central to limitations on access to jobs, educational institutions, health facilities, social networks, etc., which in turn generates a "poverty trap".

The lack of accessible public transport options were seen as a barrier to health and wellbeing when considering access to shops and services if people were no longer able to drive.
Instead, many of them want access to as many transport options as possible.
The Finnish capital has ambitious plans to create a "mobility on demand" system by 2025 by developing a smartphone app that provides people with access to cheap and more sustainable transport options such as carpools, taxis, bikes and ferries.
Other innovative approaches aim at facilitating geographic access to care through low-cost transport options to EmOC facilities such as bicycles and motorbikes [ 68, 69].
Studies have shown that access to recreational facilities designed to engage in PA and transport options such as the presence of sidewalks and access to public transportation are critically important for the availability and opportunity to engage in PA [ 22, 23].
