According to UNICEF/WHO figures 73 percent of Zimbabweans have access to improved water and 60 percent had access to improved sanitation.
Between 1990 and 2010, access to improved sanitation increased from 67% to 82%, but access to improved water source's increased only slightly from 89% to 94%.
More than half the country's children lack access to improved water sources, and 72 per cent lack access to improved sanitation, leaving them susceptible to disease.
In sub-Saharan Africa, 63% of the population has no sustainable access to improved sanitation and 44% has no sustainable access to improved water sources [ 6].
