The phrase "access surgeon" is not standard in written English and may cause confusion.
It could be used in a context where one is referring to a surgeon who specializes in accessing certain areas of the body for medical procedures, but it is not commonly recognized.
Example: "The access surgeon was able to reach the affected area with minimal invasion."
Alternatives: "interventional surgeon" or "surgical access specialist".
Appropriate training for the spine surgeon as well as the access surgeon is important.
