"It absolutely upsets us as a community, and we do feel under siege," said Othman Suqi, 44, who recently drove the imam to a mall to buy a novel for a child's homework assignment.
"Yes we are friends, and I am absolutely not upset," she told the Telegraph.
"That was such an astounding, absolutely monumental upset in women's tennis.
The school's communications director, Christina Ditzel, said school officials were "absolutely very upset that this happened".
One of them, Mr. John — whom she met when he was still named Reg Dwight — said in a statement: "I'm absolutely shocked and upset.
"I'm absolutely shattered and upset and gutted about not being able to come to America," Mr. Horsley said in a telephone interview from London, where he had returned on Wednesday.

The dog walker said she was "horrified, absolutely disgusted, really upset and annoyed" by the damage.
"I know she's absolutely gutted, but upset also that she has not been spoken to, so the communication around this has been very poor from the management down," he said.
