According to previous studies (Klein Tank and Können 2003; Zhang et al. 2011), an absolute annual weather index might be more suitable for assessing the impacts of extreme events.
Furthermore, we address various findings concerning absolute and relative weather indices.
Some trace elements associated with the OM such as V, Cr, Th, U, Ni and Co, change significantly in their absolute concentration during weathering, but their relative ratios do not necessarily change too much and might be still reliable proxies for paleo-environmental determination.
