The government of Saudi Arabia has repeated on more than one occasion its absolute stand against terrorist activities of all kinds and has co-operated with all international efforts, through the UN and other organisations, attempting to deal with the problem.
"Their murder demonstrates the absolute disregard that terrorist-inspired Taliban and other insurgents have for your health," he said.
"It would be an absolute victory for terrorists, if they're behind this attack, if we pulled back and stopped doing our job in the Middle East or elsewhere in the world, and we're not going to give them that victory," said the Pentagon spokesman, Kenneth H. Bacon.
"Neither Russia, nor Syria, nor Iran are in that category of states, as they are waging an absolute war against terrorists in Syria".
"Of course, the best-resourced agencies, the sincerest community engagement and the most carefully written laws cannot provide an absolute guarantee against a terrorist outrage – as the events at Martin Place tragically demonstrated – particularly in the case of 'lone wolf' actors, who may not be active within a network," he wrote.
However President François Hollande, who flew to Nice and toured the hospitals where the injured were being treated, seemed in no doubt about the cause of this latest atrocity, which he described as a "an absolute … monstrosity … The terrorist character [of the attack] cannot be denied," he said.
