In the seven years between "Breathless" and "Weekend," the last more or less commercial movie of his first great period, Mr. Godard cranked out 15 features and a handful of short contributions to anthology films, and the progression of his technique is toward more, rather than less, narrative discontinuity — more shocks, more abrupt dislocations, more discomfort for the viewer.
My advice to bioethicists is to save their energy for truly fearsome items, such as recombinant bacteria or viruses that may arise from species pushed together by abrupt dislocations of habitats (and for the inevitable push for a broad research-suffocating patent from this work).
