As described above, the packet-layer video QoE assessment model has two typical application scenarios, video system planning and in-service video quality monitoring, each of which has different requirements.
As discussed above, we lower the packet loss rate at the expense of latency increase.
Tx(A,1) on the left-hand side of the above equation is the packet transmission power at node A. Because the transmission power at node A is determined by node A, node A knows the value of Tx(A,1).
So, instead, the relay will actually queue the new packet with probability p calculated as above, while queue the packet and release the head of the queue with probability 1 − p. Figure 4 explains the steps the relay will follow when receiving a new packet.
In the first term of the above expression, when the packet transmission over the S-D link is successful with the probability, the consumed power is composed of the consumed power in node S and the receiving power of the D and R. Similarly, denotes the failure probability of both the transmissions over the S-D and the S-R links, and so the consumed power is still.
Therefore, we define the MAC channel access delay as the time it takes from when a packet arrives to the MAC from the layer above it, until the packet is delivered to the PHY layer for transmission.
Note that with conventional relaying, however, in the above example, packet 1 would remain in the BS queue in both time slots t=1 and t=2, and the overall waiting time would increase by two slots for all the packets.
