The phrase "above that rate" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when referring to a value or measurement that exceeds a previously mentioned rate.
Example: "The interest rate offered by the bank is above that rate, making it a more attractive option for borrowers."
Alternatives: "higher than that rate" or "exceeding that rate."
Above that rate, there is no evidence of improved mortality.
It is a set margin below or above that rate for a set period – for example, 1% above base rate for five years.
