The phrase "above land" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to describe something that is situated or occurring at a higher position relative to the land surface, often in contexts related to aviation, geography, or environmental discussions.
Example: "The helicopter hovered above land, surveying the area for any signs of wildlife."
Alternatives: "over land" or "in the air above land".
