In the past years, reports on microwave carrier generation by using a DFL were mainly focused on very low phase noise [48, 49] or large tunability [15, 50].
This paper presents the theoretical principles and the measurement results of a fully integrated Ku-band coupled Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) with very low phase noise, implemented in the QUBiC4X 0.25 μm SiGe C BiCMOS process of NXP semiconductors.
The highlights of this design include fast switching speed and narrow tuning resolution advantages of DDS combined with the very low phase noise and spurious performance of PLL.
