In 1928, Dickinson [ 109] published a study designed to verify Hill's hypothesis that the average external force exerted during a muscular movement, carried out with maximal effort, may be regarded as equal to a constant theoretical force diminished by an amount proportional to the speed of movement.
However, Dickinson did not published this article to present a test of maximal power in human but to verify Hill's hypothesis that "the average external force exerted during a muscular movement, carried out with maximal effort, may be regarded as equal to a constant theoretical force diminished by an amount proportional to the speed of movement" (see Appendix C).
