The phrase "a tendency for a decrease" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when discussing trends or patterns that indicate a reduction in a particular variable or phenomenon.
Example: "The data shows a tendency for a decrease in sales during the winter months."
Alternatives: "a trend towards a decrease" or "an inclination for a decrease."
