The phrase "a student like" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used when comparing or referring to a student who shares certain characteristics or qualities with another person or group.
Example: "She is a student like her brother, who always strives for excellence in his studies."
Alternatives: "a student similar to" or "a student such as".
