The phrase "a strained system" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used to describe a system that is under stress or pressure, often due to excessive demands or limitations.
Example: "The recent influx of users has put a strain on the server, resulting in a strained system that struggles to keep up with requests."
Alternatives: "a stressed system" or "an overloaded system."
