The phrase "a static rod" is correct and usable in written English.
It can be used in contexts related to physics, engineering, or any discussion involving objects that do not change position or state.
Example: "The experiment required a static rod to ensure accurate measurements of the electric field."
Alternatives: "an immobile rod" or "a fixed rod".
Functionally, the concept that a coiled coil can act only as a static rod is no longer valid, and the range of roles that these structures have now been shown to exhibit has expanded rapidly in recent years.
We next examined motor coordination of Tc1 mice on a static rod.
Several Down syndrome-related phenotypes have been detected in the Tc1 line including learning and memory deficits (Morice et al. 2008; O'Doherty et al. 2005), increased stereotypic grooming and activity in the open field (Galante et al. 2009), impaired balance and coordination on a static rod and impairments in motor skill learning on an accelerating Rotarod (Galante et al. 2009).
Mice were placed on a suspended 9 mm diameter static rod and the transit time to reach a platform after orientation was assessed in saline and LPS-treated mice (Fig. 5C and D).
