At the junction of the midbrain and pons, large numbers of AP+ cells populate the dorsal raphe nucleus, a major source of projections to the nucleus accumbens (Figure 5I).
In monkeys, it appears that the anterior thalamic nuclei and the closely related lateral dorsal thalamic nucleus are one of the principal sources of thalamic projections to the hippocampal formation, with nucleus reuniens providing a further source of projections to the hippocampus (Amaral & Cowan, 1980; DeVito, 1980).
The remaining laminae (V and VI) of the LEC are also of interest, as they are the primary targets for the efferents from the HPC and subiculum (Van Strien et al., 2009), as well as the source of projections beyond the temporal lobe to sites such as the prefrontal cortex (Insausti et al., 1997).

Consequently, as neocortical development progresses and the cellularity in the SVZ increases, IPs become the major source of projection neurons (Breunig et al., 2011, Kowalczyk et al., 2009).

The GPe is the source of a projection to the subthalamic nucleus and a more modest projection to the SNr (Bolam et al., 2000; Gerfen, 2004; ).
Incredible as it may seem, the national press corps is almost completely ignoring a report from the government's main source of budget projections.
A major factor for this focus is that the VTA is the single source of DA projections to forebrain regions implicated in these processes.
However, the medial septum is more than just the controller of theta; it is also the main source of cholinergic projections to the hippocampus.
