To verify the proposed role of I in the catalytic cycle, we reacted isolated mixed anhydride 7 (E1/2red=−1.74 V vs SCE)[ 15] with olefin 2 a in the presence of the photocatalyst under visible-light and as expected, smooth conversion into product 3 a was observed.
